On the theory of the derived preposition

The problems related to the definition and volume of units included in the category of “auxilarity” are raised in the article, i.e. the oppositeness of the category of conjunction – preposition (relatives) and the category of particles, on the one hand, and the expansion of the class of relatives, on the other. Within this ideas it’s discussed whether it’s reasonable to include lexicalized case-prepositional word forms like v resul’tate ‘as a result (of)’, po prichine ‘because (of)’, za iskl’ucheniem ‘except (for)’, etc., which are traditionally treated as derived prepositions, into the grammatical class of prepositions. The author analyzes the possible ways of a consistent description of denominative innovations capable of performing the functions of a preposition, identifies the features of the functional and semantic nature of such prepositional-nominal units in synchronous terms. Particular attention is paid to the question of the relationship and status of their attributive and prepositional variants in order to establish their grammatical status.

The formations of prepositional type and blendwords

The article analyzes one of the groups of word equivalents in Russian – words of hybrid type: their particular qualities are studied by the example of lexicalized prepositional-nominal word forms in the auxilary function v resul’tate ‘as a result (of)’ and v itoge ‘at the end (of)’ which can function in the text with and without a distributor. The status of such units is discussed and whether they can be treated as derived preposition. The functional similarity of the considered hybrid words with the independent functioning of the lexeme and its use as part of a nominal group is demonstrated; besides, the author characterizes the use of the named lexemes in the position of a discourse connective.

The missing pages of Russian spelling history: spelling views by A.S. Shishkov

The article examines the philological A.S. Shishkov’s views, in particular his approach to Russian orthography, formulated in the work “Conversations about Literature” (written in 1811). This work was not the subject of a separate linguistic description. A.S. Shishkov’s views reflected in this work are analyzed only as one of the stages of the struggle against the “new syllable” of Karamzinism. We will consider this work as one of the stages of the development of the theory of Russian spelling in the early period of the development of philological science in Russia.

The ecclesiastical causes of the ideological dispute: once again about the nature of the conflict in the novel by I.S. Turgenev “Fathers and Sons”

The article is devoted to the ecclesiastical aspect of the conflict in I.S. Turgenev’s novel “Fathers and Sons”. The authors of the article analyze the correlation between the ideological confrontation of the heroes – representatives of the older and younger generations – and the power of selfless love reconciling them.

Telegram channel as a means of lifelong learning for a teacher of Russian as a foreign language

The article summarizes the experience of creating and maintaining a professionally oriented telegram channel for teachers of Russian as a foreign language. A variety of channel headings are highlighted, an emphasis is placed on the specific features of the content presentation within each heading. A special part of the project is regularly released podcast (interview with experts). The conclusion is made about the effectiveness of using the telegram channel for continuous learning of an adult professional in the field of teaching Russian as a foreign language.

Internet memes in teaching Russian as a foreign language: opportunities and examples of usage

The world around us is changing rapidly, giving rise to a large number of new phenomena, including speech ones. Internet memes are cultural units that circulate in the virtual space, have a template structure and are used to express emotions, personal opinions, reactions to something. Memes can be useful for teaching Russian as a foreign language, mostly because of their communicative function, but also because of their language play, humour, etc. Using the example of a number of previously and now popular memes, this article shows how to use memes in teaching, to embedding them in the context of classes with foreign students.

Review of the monograph by L.V. Polyakova “Prose E.I. Zamyatin: the artist’s historiosophical searching”, 2022, 7448 p.

The review analyzes the monograph by L.V. Polyakova “Prose E.I. Zamyatin: the artist’s historiosophical searching”. It’s noted that the author of the monograph discovers the points of the contacts between Zamyatin’s outlook and Russian and West philosophy – especially the ideas of N.A. Berdyaev, V.V. Zenkovsky and K. Jaspers, R. Guardini, O. Spengler. The perspective of the study of Zamyatin’s prose is especially valuable in its entirety: artistic creativity is considered in relation to critical and literary articles.

Review of the monograph: Efimov M., Smith D. Svyatopolk-Mirsky. Moscow: Molodaya gvardiya, 2021. – 702 p.

The review examines the first complete biography of one of the outstanding Russian literary critics of the first half of the twentieth century, Prince D.P. Svyatopolk-Mirsky. His unusual fate determined the vector of his creative development and changes in both political and literary-critical views. Despite the fact that for almost two decades Mirsky has been the author of numerous bright critical reviews, for Western readers and researchers he remains the author of the “History of Russian Literature”, which has not yet lost its significance. The facts of Mirsky’s original biography are presented through the background of historical and literary events of the first third of the twentieth century both in Russia and abroad.
