The interpretation of the concept of morphological form (MF) in Russian studies is analyzed. Its author’s understanding is given — the unity of the morphological means and the generalized basis of words of a given part of speech. The implementation of MF as a unit of an abstract grammatical system at its other levels is traced. At the word level, it is realized in word form — the unity of the MF and the given lexeme. At the level of the utterance, it is realized in the word form-syntaxeme — the word form as a component of the utterance in its morphological meaning, which is included in its content. An analogy is drawn between the MF as a morphological model of a word, its word-formation model and the model of utterance.
Key words: morphological form, morphological word model, word form, word form- syntaxeme, levels of existence of the grammatical structure.

The article is devoted to the problem of distinguishing between the concepts of a language that develops naturally, and a letter created on the basis of the phonetic system of the language, which at a certain stage of history may not correspond to the language that has changed over time. As a result, there is a need for a reform of writing, its graphics and spelling, but not of the language, because there can be no reform of the language. The paper examines the materials of the controversy regarding the reform of graphics and spelling in 1917–1918. and unrealized projects to improve Russian spelling in 1964 and 2000. Examples from the history of the Russian language and writing are given, indicating that language development does not depend on spelling reform.
Key words: language, graphics, spelling, writing, spelling reform project, a set of spelling and punctuation rules.
